Some opinions and thoughts on “Why Catholic”
"Why Catholic" is one of my new favorite subjects!
This new faith journey is intended for “cradle” Catholics, returning Catholics, new to the faith and all who desire to learn and grow spiritually.
When the Holy Spirit embraced me, I found myself reading all I could about the Church, its history and the catechism. I wanted to learn about all the miracles, ESPECIALLY those related to the Holy Eucharist. Needless to say, I’ve barely scratched the surface.
The Why Catholic faith journey program consists of a couple six week sessions. The first one will start October 4th.
For me the bottom line is this: I want to grow spiritually. It is VERY important to be to be able to defend my faith through understanding the catechism. If I hear one more time, “You pray to statues” or “You don’t need nor should you have a priest to confess your sins to God" or “Just accept Jesus in your life and you will be saved and will go to heaven”, well we all know how frustrating that can be. The one thing that bothers me the most is not being able to give an intelligent defense, in a loving way of course.
Why Catholic will be able to offer help in understanding the Church’s teaching.
I’m excited about this faith journey and like minded people can’t wait for it to begin.
We had our first "Why Catholic" meeting last night and it was very fun. It was great to meet new people and hear about their path to God on a more personal level. Rafael, our leader, was great.

It's hard to believe that our first season of "Why Catholic" is over so soon. I am very impressed with the quality of our workbook. It's hard to choose, but I think that my favorite session so far was the one on the Trinity. I want to send special thanks to Kay McHale and members of her team for getting this very enriching program started.
