RCIA Prayer Retreat
It's hard for me to believe, but I have recently marked my 20th year as a member of the St. Gall Catholic community.
A consistent theme for me, as I look back through these years, is that I always recieve back from the community much more than I put in.
This payback is particularly abundant in my ministry as an RCIA catechist. One of my favorite RCIA activities is our annual prayer retreat which we held last weekend. Our two priests let us have this retreat in their homes.
It has been a particular blessing for me to be on the retreat team. Our planning meetings are a combination of party, spiritual faith sharing, and, yes, some work.
The retreat itself consists of many types of prayer. For each type, we give a brief explanation and then we experience the prayer. For each prayer, we move from one sacred space to another.
And, of course, we have lots of food. We have "light" refreshments halfway through the retreat and then a major feast during our lunch at the end. This picture shows the retreatants (retreaters?) and our team feasting on some lunch in Fr. Paul's dining room.
And so, as I think about my first 20 years as a member of the St. Gall community, I must thank all of you for everything you've done for me. And, in particular, I thank my RCIA team mates. I would not be where I am and who I am without you.
